A Rhythm For the Week

Five small habits to keep your soul awake when life moves fast or overwhelms.

1 minute

Most of us don’t drift away from God in dramatic moments. We drift in tiny, unmarked steps — a day too busy for God, skipped Sunday worship and fellowship, a increasingly louder phone, trials.

What we need isn’t a heroic spiritual life, but a consistent one. Here are five small rhythms that, over time, hold the heart and soul in place:

Morning: Five minutes with God through prayer and devotions before the phone. Just five (or more of course).

Mid-day: One expression of gratitude, written or whispered.

Evening: A short reflection — where did God meet with me today? What was the message?

Weekly: One unhurried meal with people you love.

Sunday: Show up (despite the challenges of the week). Worship. Receive. Let yourself be loved and encouraged by God and His people.

None of this is impressive. But doing these small things will create a rhythm for your week and a spritual life that is not overshadowed by the things of this world.
